I started this blog to provide a place where people who love Detroit as I do could share their vision for the city and read what others have to say. I am a candidate for Detroit City Council this year because I love Detroit and I believe that I can make a positive difference on City Council.

My vision for Detroit is that it thrive as a city with residents who are confident about what is possible here.
- All children will be educated, nurtured and loved.
- Everyone who is able bodied would have a job that provides a good living for their family.
- Detroit would be a leader in new technologies and job creation.
- Property would be utilized for the benefit of the whole community.
- Vacant land and buildings would be maintained in a way that benefits the community.
- Community input and involvement would be nurtured and encouraged.
- Leadership would be the role of every citizen.
- Senior Citizens would not live in fear.
- People would be celebrated for their contributions.
- Elected officials would be true public servants. Working to understand the needs, concerns and ideas of all residents.

Here are visions of Detroit from some of my committee volunteers:

Roland
- A City with a sound educational system
- Public transportation
- Opportunities & options for success for all residents to have a good quality of life
- Detroit is a major leader among African American cities
Bev
· This is a tough city. Strong and resilient where neighborhoods are a great place to raise your kids
· A destination place for African Americans because they see Detroit as a city that really works for families
· A hub for culture and entertainment
· We have creatively used land to fulfill the dreams of our children
· A place where we look out for one another

Rosa
- People here stick together and nurture each other
- A city that still dreams and people fulfill their dreams. The city nurtures those dreams.

Meri
- All land and buildings are productivity used
- Mass transit liberates and connects communities
- Parks and recreation areas invite people
- Diversity of community is the norm and communities work well together
- Economic, racial, ethnic and social diversity of communities is the standard

Yusef
- All citizens authentically believe that children are our future
- Children are nurtured, cared for supported and loved
- A city with real leadership – character, ethics and morals
- Leaders causing other leaders to set up
- Children have role models right at hand and know that they will be supported by adults.
